District 6380 DGE Karen Marie Gabrys
Karen Marie Gabrys joined the Ypsilanti Rotary Club, Ypsilanti, Michigan in 2009 because she wanted to make a difference in the community. She believes Rotary’s successes toward building international relationships, improving lives, creating a better world, and eradicating polio rely on like-minded people who have a desire to make a difference. She is privileged to be a Rotarian and is inspired by her fellow Rotarians who lead by example and share the goodness in their hearts.
Karen’s Rotary passion is the eradication of Polio. Growing up she remembers meeting Polio survivors and came to understand the devastation a Polio diagnosis had on a family. Knowing we are “This Close” to eradicating Polio inspires and motivates her commitment to Rotary.
Karen has served as a 2-term club president, club secretary, newsletter editor, and website administrator. At the district level, Karen has served as assistant governor, district conference co-chair, public image chair, and district trainer. She also serves Great Lakes PETS as the webmaster and committee member. Karen has completed Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) training and serves as an RLI facilitator.
